Turners are 173 years in business and we have been printing books and Annuals for at least the last 50 years. We have learned continually over this period, developing both our skillsets and equipment. A much bigger part of this is you the customer and your own understanding. This can save you considerable time and money.
One tip is that If it is your first time producing a publication, it is important that you involve your printer from the outset. In the past we have seen clients waste a lot of time and money trying to format files for text and photo layout unfortunately this regularly must be reformatted to make the file print ready.
Other decisions include the print process that your publication will follow. Will you print it using lithographic or digital processes and on what substrate? With the improvement in the quality of digital printing presses which is very suitable to shorter publication quantities, the key driver in your decision making process is the quantity ordered. We recommend lithographic printing on runs of over 200 units, however some choose this option for image permanency, quality and crispness of images and text. The weight, bulk and paper finish is important and is determined by 3 factors the amount of pages in the publication, the resolution of colour images and finally your budget.
We offer a full range of binding options in-house from simple saddle stitched, to perfect bound, to thread sewn and case bound for high end publications.
We can offer a full design service if required. Our quality and service is evidenced by one customer The Leitrim Guardian who we first published for in 1957 and every year since 1962 Turners have printed their annual . If you are considering publishing whether it be your first time or not, please contact us to find out how we can help!
